About the Role
Creative/Expressive Arts Counseling Intern(s) will be responsible for providing trauma-informed, diversity-informed and culturally-affirming individual and group therapy and mental health support to clients from a range of social-cultural backgrounds. Intern(s) will gain understanding of perinatal psychotherapy, expressive arts therapy, early childhood mental health, infant-parent psychotherapy, and, facilitate psychoeducational/support groups for birthing individuals and families that center creative wellness and healing. Additionally, this role will include supporting clinical staff with the development, organization, coordination, and implementation of ongoing perinatal community based creative/therapeutic workshops that utilize photography, journaling, movement, music, art, dance, and other creative arts modalities. In addition to the qualifications for the position (listed below) interns are expected to have an emerging commitment and openness to a creatively-oriented company environment, creative arts, holistic wellness, social justice, perinatal mental health advocacy, and, an awareness of intersectional social equity issues, and have a passion for serving marginalized communities.

This 10-month, 15-20 hour/week position will begin Summer 2022 and end May 2023. This internship position is ideal for a Graduate level Expressive Arts Therapy major student.

individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Interns will engage in weekly Group Expressive Arts Therapy and Creative Wellness Supervision with supportive peers
along with weekly Individual Supervision with an experienced Board-Certified Dance Movement Therapist and Licensed Mental Health Clinician.
Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.
Bachelor's degree required and current enrollment in a Graduate level Expressive Therapies Degree program.
1-3 years related work/clinical experience required. Experience working with racial/ethnically diverse communities Ability to make decisions that are guided by general instructions and practices requiring some interpretation
Ability to interact respectfully with other employees, professional staff and/or external contacts to offer ideas, identify issues, obtain information or deliver services
Highly motivated, enthusiastic, self-starter who is detailed- oriented and follow–through skills
Knowledgeable about health and wellness with a creative mindset and critical thinking skills.
Accept, understand and integrate intersectional equity and inclusion in your creative collaborations as it pertains to cultural diversity within the creative wellness and perinatal mental health.
Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications and upholds an intermediate/advanced familiarity with computers.
Ability to travel within the Greater Boston Area.
Language/Bilingual capacity (Haitian Creole, Spanish, Cape Verdean Creole, etc.) a plus but not required.
Responsibilities
Co-Facilitate psychoeducational groups, and creative arts- based support groups for counseling clients
Provide trauma-informed and culturally responsive individual counseling to clients.
Develop and implement creative/expressive therapy initial evaluations, intakes, treatment plans and individual/group psychotherapy that are age appropriate, culturally relevant and consistent with overall treatment goals.
Assess client needs through observations, medical records, assessments and discussions with other healthcare professionals, and client.
Work under the general supervision of the Clinical Intern Supervisor.
Provide referrals and case monitoring information for clients
Engage in individual, group, and peer supervision meetings
Work collaboratively with A Bucket For The Well, LLC staff, co- interns and community members around consultation with community agencies involved in clients care.
Comfortability with requirement that interns must be able to lift objects up to twenty-five (25) pounds where applicable during on-site creative wellness projects and/or events.
Outreach to local community agencies.
Other duties and special projects as needed.
